Support a friend or challenge yourself in the Ruby Mountain Relay, one of the best athletic events in Northeast Nevada. Taking place on August 19-20th 2016 over a full 24 hours, the course stretches 184 miles south of Elko and around the Ruby Mountain range before concluding just past their tip in Wells.
This ambitious course would be almost impossible to complete in the time allotted without the full 12 runners that make up each team. As organized, the Relay allows each member to run at three different times throughout the race—and choose which sections they want to tackle. With legs varying in length and difficulty from 2 to 8 miles each, less experienced runners can still join in and contribute to their team's success!
Just about any runner would find the race worth committing to for the tour of Elko County it provides. Leading from Lamoille Canyon, the course takes runners to the ruggedly beautiful Ruby Valley Road, Starr Valley Cemetery and other notable locations, often backed with views of the Ruby Mountain Range.
In addition to being a memorable experience for participants, the Relay also makes pledges to the Northern Nevada Autism Network. Teams who raise funds also receive special benefits like a free breakfast during the race, while the team that raises the most money ahead of time can get free race entry.
Visitors to our Elko, NV hotel should also consider running solo in another Ruby Mountain Race Series event—the same organization that presents the Ruby Mountain Relay also holds at least seven other challenges throughout the year. Highlights include:
Enjoy the great outdoors—and a great workout—alongside the other benefits of the Ramada Elko Hotel and Casino.
